What’s going on?

Yes, it’s been a while (too long, once again …) since I last posted something here. It still doesn’t mean I haven’t been active — remember that! ;) I’ve been working with a lot of different projects – outside Sailfish OS as well -, some of them has been bigger than the others. Hopefully you get to see some of the progress soon.

How to become a developer

How to become a developer? No matter you’re not familiar with the code language itself or you simply haven’t done anything like this before it doesn’t mean you couldn’t be a developer. The most important things are willingness, desire, patience and an idea. The idea.

If you’re interested in developing applications (and you want to become one) for Sailfish read on and you’ll find some helpful links and advice to acheive it.

The future of my Sailfish tutorials

Design based tutorials: A custom made PageHeader is a good example of this one. Little tweaks and workarounds how to get the best solution which is both efficient annd small sized.

Integrating QML and C++: This has actually a lot of stuff in it. Custom made components are the main target (Audio recorder and Sensors are good examples) but also actually everything related to C++ and QML when you’re using them together.

Only QML: This might be the smallest area of the tutorials but it certainly won’t be the less important thing to remember. Basically I’ll use not so common QML components and how to communicate between QML files easily. Some design features may come as well, but main focus is the less common QML components and interaction between two or more components.

Can you see the waves coming?

I know it’s been too long since I last posted – or actually did anything related to Sailfish community. I also know it hasn’t been all for nothing. Here’s why…

I managed to get a summer job which I really needed after a long time of being unemployed. That’s not all; I also got another job which I couldn’t resist because of the money and experience. Therefore I have not had time at all to develop applications like I used to. Still I haven’t stopped re-creating and generating ideas for my future and ongoing projects.

Dry season …

Good afternoon and apologizes!

As some of you may know I’m currently unemployed and I don’t have a place to study either. So at the moment most of my time goes to find something so I’m able to pay my bills, food, and so o. But there are no reason to worry, I haven’t gone anywhere and I still try to manage some time for developing applications. Unfortunately I have some spare time in the nights so it’s really exhausting and power consuming.

However I don’t like negative announcements so here’s something positive – I hope.

I’m working with few quite big projects which main purpose is to bring every person in Jolla and Sailfish family closer together. Easier way to communicate with each others easily and helpful when finding information about places, products, services, … everyhing! This is by so far the largest project I’ve ever had but I also work with a lot of smaller ones e.g. Wine cellar, Places, Audio recorder, Weather forecast, Yahtzee and few games.

Those small projects can easily be done but some of them can already be found either in Harbour or Warehouse so I don’t think I need to rush with them. Why I want to create them? I think I’m able to provide a lot more features packed in a more simple UI. Also those will be open source so I hope you find it more useful.

The big projects I’m creating are actually something I haven’t done before. I need to pay for few licenses and I’ve had to rent my own VPS so as for an unemployed developer who has no education of anykind it’s actually a huge risk. All of my applications will be free so therefore all your donations to support my work is much, much appreciated.

I hope this dry season won’t last for too long so I can get back in business and provide some more applications for you.
